Battambang or Sambor prei kuk

My next trip to Cambodia will be entering via Don Det in Laos and it seems that the usual route is into Siem Reap. I don't mind staying a night in SR but I am interested in seeing Battambang AND Sambor Prei Kuk before going down to Phnom Penh. Can anyone give advice on whether it is really worthwhile to do both, or have any recommendations for either/or. I can probably give about 6 to 8 days to see this region but don't want to waste too many days back and forth on buses. PS I have already been to SR and Angkor but I know more of the south of the country.

Yes go to B Bang for 3/4 days. Hire a bike and go and see all the bats leaving their roost, take a drive up to the old casino ontop of an escarpment. Take a boat trip up the river at sunset with some rum n cokes.
