Scooter rental in Siem Reap

Hey all just wanted to write up our experience renting scooters in Siem Reap and driving around Angkor Wat. We got Scoopy i scooters from Pear Heng Rental, across the street from the Sokax gas station on route 56 in the middle of town. We were able to give a copy of our passport and a $100 deposit that covered two bikes for two days for $13/day/bike. The bikes were in good condition, all lights functioned, good brakes and tires, working horn and gas gauge. The only thing not working was the speedometer. The owner gave us a map of Angkor Wat and the town and showed us where to park, road closures and one bridge to avoid due to dirty cops. We had no idea scooter rentals were not allowed, we saw a lot of police in Angkor Wat but nobody ever gave us a hassle to park or anything. It was a great way to get around and we didn’t have to put up with a tuk tuk after getting the run around in town. Traffic was crazy, Chinese New Year is Tuesday and town is packed, but doable with an experienced rider. Anyways good experience with Pear Heng, got our deposit back in full so I would recommend them.
