atm/ debt card

Posted by manojdephoto on 14/2/2006 at 10:35

Hello,

I will be flying into Bangkok on 20/2 from Chicago and then travel by land to Siem Reap. I have an ATM/ debt card that has the VISA logo on it. I know that ANZ Bank in Phnom Penh will accept ATM cards that draw on foreign banks accounts. If I take a cash advance using my ATM/ debt card, can I use other banks in Cambodia besides ANZ? Is this equivalent to using a regular ATM card at a bank?

Thanks,
Manoj

Hi Manoj,

As I understand it you'll be restricted to ANZ ATMs. You can check their website that details the ATM locations in Phnom Penh. ATMs are supposed to be in Siem Reap now as well, though I'm not sure if they are operating yet. Aside from ANZ ATMs, you'll be restricted to getting cash advances over the counter at spots like Western Union and Canadia Bank.

I used ANZ atm in Siem Reap 3 weeks ago, so you'll be fine.

I have no idea about the ANZ visa card but I was able to use my Nationwide visa card to get cash from a bank in Kompong Cham in January - more surprising was the fact there were no fees for this.

What country is your Nationwide visa card from? I'm looking for one from a US bank with no fees.
