Backpacking from Bangkok to Hanoi in three weeks

Posted by Kallepp on 17/2/2016 at 11:50

Hey!

My girlfriend and I are going on our first backpacking adventure ever. We are starting in Bangkok 9th of July and ending the journey in Hanoi August 2. We want to travel by bus or train from Bangkok through Cambodia and Vietnam but don't know how much time we can spend in each place and where to find information about trains and buses.

Your expirences and recomandations about places to see, things to do and how to travel is much appriciated and also very inspiring.

Will you spend about a month to travel Bangkok, Cambodia and Vietnam which is a short vacation. If you have money , you should move by flight to save time. You can go as far as the Cambodian border by train from Bangkok but no further. The ticket from Bangkok to the border costs 48Baht and the journey takes about 5-6 hours. At the border you must take a bus or taxi to continue into Cambodia. Another way, you can catch train to Bangkok to Saigon (2 days, 1 night) and travel Vietnam first and catch bus to Phnom Penh to Sai Gon(4-6hrs) with about $8-$12/pax.
