How do you choose where to go?

I'm interested in how people choose where to go on holiday. Both how you choose on regions / countries and also how you choose specific locations. What or who influences you?

What influences me are the experiences from other people, friends and relatives. I also get these either by conversations with other travellers and by the media.
Finding Travelfish on the net did not hurt either, I also look at the brochures of the tour companies to see their itineraries and then expand on them. I like to travel certain times of the year and not during high season, Asia in the spring and Europe in the fall and anywhere warm during the winter. My work schedule is still getting in the way so this also limits where I want to travel.

In terms of specific destinations... friends, blogs and forums are great for ideas, as are Pinterest and Twitter. Constantly, someone somewhere is posting about amazing places in the world to go! And then, it's a case of piecing together itineraries and looking for good deals. It also depends on the season and if I want to tie in the visit to a specific festival/event.

There's a lot of factors but usually I find that you can feel in your heart where you have burning desire to visit next!
