Brushing Teeth with Tap Water

Posted by exacto on 4/9/2022 at 08:56

I've caught a little grief from travel companions this trip about using filtered water to brush my teeth. They tell me they use tap water for brushing and that it is perfectly safe and never caused them any problems. What do the rest of you do? Am I overly cautious and outdated in my thinking using filtered water only? Let me know. Cheers.

I use filtered water and never had an issue in over 25 years of traveling in Southeast Asia. Buddy of mine brushes his teeth with tap water and is just careful not to swallow and he's never had an issue. I guess it's kind of a personal choice!

Thanks all around for the input. I've stayed with the bottled water exactly for the reasons people suggest above. I figure in some locations it wouldn't be a problem, but I am moving around quite a bit, and figure it isn't worth the risk. Regards.
