We are a little bit undecided (like many!!) on where to go as so much choice and so little time!!
We have only 6 weeks to travel and have to go in May/June which appears to be right through the monsoon seasons of Thailand/Cambodia/Laos/Vietnam
So we decided perhapsto go to Malaysia as it will be the dry season there and looks beautiful.
We are thinking of flying into Bangkok and spending 3 weeks in Thailand, then the next 3 in Malaysia flying back out of Kuala Lumpur.
After reading a lot of these threads we think we would be rushing to attempt Laos/Vietnam or Cambodia as well as Thailand and Malaysia, and we are also a bit put off by the monsoons - can anyone help us with just how rainy it does get int the places mentioned?!
What we are getting all mixed up with, is this. Should we not worry about the monsoons and do Thailand and either Laos/Cam or Vietnam (which one?!) and miss out Malaysia? Or is it a good plan to miss out the others and just discover Thailand and Malaysia?
We are predominantly nature lovers, would love to jungle trek, but are not into scuba diving, although of course would love to see the islands and unspoilt beaches and would also like to get off the beaten track as much as possible. We are not bothered about where the best party is and would prefer not to be around too many tourists.

This region is well travelled now, and remember, as soon as you say an area without a lot of tourists, that means not a tourist base, and that means no English, and if you go remote enough, no electricity or running water either. So be careful what you wish for.
6 weeks ain't much for all of that so limit it and go slower. The weather usually isn't as bad as you think. Be prepared for showers and then dry spells. Or a little of each everyday. I think the 3 week here and 3 weeks there is enough if you really want two places.
