30 days in SEA...

hey all!
Apologies for another itinerary request...
I am in the process of planning a trip to Thailand, Cambodia and Laos with my boyfriend. We are leaving September23rd-24th returning October 20th-23rd (whenever the cheapest flights are!) We are possibly working on this loose itinerary:

1. Bangkok
2.Bangkok-Siam Reap (early morning train, tuk tuk and bus to get to Siam Reap)
3-5. Angkor Wat (temples, etc)
5. Travel to Phnom Penh (6 hours by bus)
5-6. PP

Now this is where we've lost it! We would like to go onto Laos from here, but all flights from PP to Laos are around $200 each. Not really feasible, so we've been looking at possibly flying back into Bangkok (havent looked at flights yet) and jumping on a Stray bus to explore Laos, but I havent seen much about Stray from anyone on here (travelfish has been my bible of late) and was wondering if anyone had travelled with them before?

Is there another way to get from PP to Vientiane or Luang Prabang?

We were hoping for about a week in Laos, definitely want to check out Vang Vieng, and possibly the Gibbons experience, depending on cost? (I have attempted to research the cost of the Gibbons experience, cannot find anything recent). I know the two of these are far apart, in distance and experience, I'd just like to gather as much relevent information as possible before the booking begins.

After Laos we are meeting some friends in Thailand, and are just thinking islands islands islands for that part!

Thanks in advance : )

Getting the bus from Phnom Penh to Laos is easy. And there are some good stops on the way...

You could fly or go overland to PP, then take the boat up to Siem Reap, then go by bus into Southern Laos near Si Phan Don.
