Christmas/December 2013 SE Asia??

Posted by freebilly on 25/8/2013 at 03:41

I have previously travelled SE Asia few years ago but this year will be there in December including Christmas day and I'd like to know your experiences...

I'm used doing the big family Christmas thing but this year I'll be spending it somewhere different! So, just after any recommendations for a 25year old solo traveller that's looking to go somewhere lively, meet people and generally have a good time!

Anywhere really in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, as long as its lively..

Xmas time is busy in lots of places. No trouble finding lively places.

Thailand can be particularly fun in December as the weather is just perfect. It doesn't rain much and the temperatures are at their lowest. You can stay at a beach resort, these places are really exciting especially during new years' and Christmas. You can choose a great Boutique Hotel in Thailand from this list.

I've been wondering the same thing as I'll be in SEA during Christmas and New Year too. Unfortunately my Thai visa expires just before Christmas so I was thinking of going to Siem Reap - I hope it won't be too lonely!

I shall be spending christmas day in airports/in the air so anywhere on the ground will be less lonely than that!

I'd rather be alone on a plane than sitting next to relatives on Xmas day. Worst day of the year.

I happen to agree, Leonard! Cheap too!

Hi guys!
I am travelling on my own through SEA in a few days and I am planning on climbing Mount Kinabalu on Christmas Eve, to reach the summit at sunrise on Christmas morning. Preferably wearing a Christmas jumper! :-)
I have asked various tour companies if I could join any existing groups, but they do not seem to allow this so I have to pay for a guide for just me.
I don't mind the price, however, I do mind being on my own on Christmas day. So I was wondering if any of you would like to join me in the Christmas day climb followed by Christmas celebrations/meal at a hotel in Kota Kinabalu early evening/night on Christmas day?

I was in KK for Christmas a few years ago and I found it to be as festive as my home town in Canada. I doubt you'll feel or be 'alone'...Enjoy
