ATM scam
ATM scam
Bali blog Bali Expat has a good new post on the latest ATM scams that are running across Bali. Worth a read. Have posted this in the SEA branch as if it is happening in Bali it is very likely to be happening elsewhere.
Be careful!

Best to use terminals at official bank branches with good security cameras.

Like the article says, this is common all over the world. We had a large outbreak of this type of skimming in the states around a year ago, but the banks seem to have reacted to it and it isn't as big a problem now. One solution is to find an ATM that you know and use regularly, but that is difficult to do on holiday. Another is to use the guarded ATMs like the article suggests, particularly those inside a bank lobby. It has me thinking about cash and travellers checks too as an alternative. But I suspect that for most of us, just paying attention and selecting an ATM wisely will be all the protection we need.
Tha|ks for the reminder, somtam. Cheers.
