Air pollution northen Thaïland and Vietnam march-may

We will travel from february to end of may in SEA: we start with Cambodia in february (meeting friends) then march North of Thaïland because after that it's too hot than Laos and Vietnam from north to south.

1.We read that the worse months for air pollution were march -april for thaïland and october-december for north Vietnam, which looks incoherent to me,can you help? Is it an issue for someone with asthma?

2. If you think it's a bad idea for someone with lung issue, do you have alternatives?

The worst time for air quality in northern Thailand (and northern Laos) is late-Feb until whenever rains start, usually April. Feb is typically okay until somewhere near the end it tends to heat up quickly and combine with increased agricultural burning to create the legendary thick seasonal haze. The worst is usually mid/late-March. People with respiratory problems have a hard time with it. You can monitor pollution levels on http://aqicn.org. It's been consistent the past 12-16 years I've been living/traveling here. The "alternative" is go to the coast where sea breezes bring cleaner air while the interior is a dirty fishbowl.
