java to bali at speed!

Apologies if similar Q's have been asked before.

I'm flying into Yogyakarta spending 3 days there before trying to get to Pemuteran via mt Bromo. Basically i'd really like to understand if it is possible to do the following:

day 1 leave yogya, arrive near Bromo
day 2 Bromo early morning, get to port, ferry to Bali, somehow get to Pemuteran.

I don't have much experience of 'tours' and have never been to Indo so confirmation that 'everyone does this, just go to XYZ tour operator' or 'hell no, you need more time at Bromo/in transit' would be great guidance. I'm guessing that we wouldn't be able to get a tour to cover all the transport/accommodation in Bromo and onward bus/ferry/bus to Pemuteran for anything affordable? Backpacking but willing to pay for the convienience of having this leg looked after.

Wish we had more time to see stuff on the way but time is a luxury we just don't have right now.

Thanks lovely people!

Untill ferry into Bali its all feasible, but rushed. In Indo always be prepared for many unexpected delays, and in Bromo/Probolingo for about the worst of the worst in touts and cheating. Also forget about sleeping that night.
Now, if you had been so wise to tell where that place is-I assume its on Bali somwhere-I am too lazy to open googlemaps and all that-you could have had more info. In fact No single touroperator at all will be organising this. The ferries run 24/365, and on Bali you choose in just 2 directions: into Denpasar or along north coast toward singaradja,. Both roads have frequent Bemo's and medium buses, but they dry out by 16/17.00- just before dusk. There will also be big Bas ekspres, mostly coming from Malang or Surabaya, calling in Pro-lingg going over the ferry and into Denpsr. Now its just a Q of where that small village sits- you will always find ''transportmister'' wherever on Bali, but its up to you to haggle and/or even find someone knowing that place and willing to go.

Yes, it's definitely possible to do what you say independently and I would tend to do that. A tour is not bad value either and will cost about double but will probably be quicker. Still, independently travel over that route shouldn't cost you any lost days. Pemuteran is only 40 minutes from the ferry port in Bali, so that's easy to get to by local bus.

Just wing it and you'll be fine.

Also check out citilink. They have three flights a day from Surabaya to Denpasar (for 300,000 - 400,000 rupiah).
