Where to go on Bali/Lombok for seven days during Nyepi?

Posted by LottaL on 17/10/2018 at 15:16

Hi all, I'm going to spend nearly a month on Bali/Lombok in March, lucky me. My sister will join me for the first two weeks and we will start in Canggu and spend the last days in Ubud before she goes back home. But I can't make up my mind about the seven days in between, it's during Nyepi and I think it's interesting as long as we stay somewhere with a pool. :) I'm considering three alternatives: Pemuteran for a week but we aren't divers and maybe it will be boring for a whole week or Gili Asahan and Gili Air (and in that case no Nyepi) or Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida. What do you think? Any other suggestions?

We like swimming and snorkeling and good restaurants, both Indonesian and Western. We're not that interested in climbing volcanoes and we don't drive motorbikes, but would like to rent bikes so that we can get around and see a bit of village life.

Hi,

Bear in mind that Nyepi means just the one day where you can’t leave the hotel property, so shouldn't be too big a deal.

Of the places you mention, I'd lean towards Nusa Lembongan as it ticks most of the boxes you mention. If you were happy on scooters, then I would say Nusa Penida instead but that island is too big (IMO) for comfortable touring by bicycle. Perhaps consider a day trip to Penida on a tour to take in some of the highlights.

Best
