From May this year Indonesian overstay fine has increased to 70 $ a day .
'The reason is to give a deterrent effect to violating foreigners," said Agung Sampurno, Head of Public Relations and Data of the Directorate General of Immigration, as quoted by Detiknews.
Previously, the fine imposed was only $30 (Rp. 300,000), and Mr Sampurno said that the amount did not provide a deterrent effect for foreigners who violated their visas...'

The 30 $ previous fine referred to in the SBS report was in Australian dollars . 70 $ referred to at the beginning was US $.

Thanks for the post, had forgotten about this. It is now 1,000,000 rupiah per day. I'll update the visa section to reflect that in a sec.

Hi Somtam . I think also the visa section also needs to be updated about Visa On Arrival .Apparently now the fee is 500,000 rps and not 35$ anymore -( has to be paid in rps ). And extension for VOA also costs 500000 rps for one month extension with no further extension possible,
