Getting around on Flores

Posted by u2tool on 21/10/2019 at 03:02

Looking at a week to ten days on Flores this early June, and trying to get a handle on getting around. Contemplating LBJ, then on to Wae Rebo, and on to Bajawa . From there we'd either come back to LBJ, or add Riung and then return. I'm planning to use car and driver - pricing around 600k per day seems not exorbitant - then renting bikes in Bajawa for extra liberty. My questions is mostly about practicality of driver/car. Am I better off renting a car for the whole period on the road (not preferred by me for cost reasons) or getting a car to Wae Rebo, and on to Bajawan the next day, and get different car back, or to Riung?

travel is easy on Flores and I would err towards hiring for the day BUT I would check if you can what the options about getting from Wae Rebo to bajawa are although i would guess getting a private taxi from there would not be a problem I do not know

Thanks amnicoll! Am now thinking of continuing from Bajawa or Riung to Flores to Kelimutu, then flying back to LBJ from End. Seems more sensible. We'll use transport in-between.

I agree, getting around Flores is easy. Private taxi is also a great option.
