Luang Prabang is gearing up to celebrate 15 years since it became a World Heritage Site, with the main events slated for December 16 and 17...

...December 16, the first day of the event, would be devoted to a meeting to review the running of the World Heritage Site over the past 15 years, and look at ways to mobilise more funding to help preserve the area.An official ceremony will be held the following day, beginning with a traditional tak baat (almsgiving) along the town’s main street, at 5:30am...
From 4pm, there will be a parade, also along the main street, from the Royal Palace Museum to Vat Xiengthong temple...
From 6:30pm, there will be official speeches from the governor and other high-ranking officials, followed by traditional performances and fireworks...
