Laos visa extension & an ATM in Champasak - FYI

Posted by robney on 5/2/2016 at 01:24

Hello, this is an FYI - when we got our 10 day Laos Visa extension at the Immigration Office a couple weeks ago in Vientiane, there were travellers who expected they could get the Extension the same day they applied but were told they that was not possible & were quite upset. Immigration said all extensions take one day, we picked ours up the next day. They did mention something about going to the Airport but did not hear it all.

Also was in Champasak yesterday and they have a BCEL ATM, didn't use it but the ads on the screen were going & saw somebody using it so another cash option if in that area. Cheers.

Hi, yes in Champasak Town there are two ATM's. One is the BCEL machine located across from the Tourism Info office at the roundabout. Second is just around the corner at the Lao Development Bank. From the Tourism Office roundabout go south (with the Mekong River on your left). At the next road, go towards the main road (heading away from the river).

Since the BCEL machine is on the 'busy' road, it's quite popular and tends to run out of cash. So the ATM in front of the Lao Development Bank is usually working. If you to need to use Western Union, the LDB has that service.
