Northern Laos Extensive Kayak Trip seeks travelers

Posted by tilosettmacher on 20/1/2019 at 13:08

After a great time along the Nam Tha river for two days in 2015 I want to make it the whole stretch from Luang Namtha to Pak Tha this year, what means a six days kayak adventure downstream. With camping, homestay, guesthouses possibly as well. From Pak Tha (Mekong) the boats to Huai Xai or Pak Beng/Luang Prabang or a bus to Huai Xai are connecting transportation.

Is anybody up to share this last river experience, before all rivers in Northern Laos will be damm(n)ed? I am flexible from 1/2/19 to 28/3/19... Tour agencies from Luang Namtha are offering different packages along the river, costs depend on the number of people. With Laos and outdoor experienced people it would be fun to do on our own boat...

See you in Laos,

Tilo

Hey, I am extremely interested in this but unfortunately, the dates don't work out. I plan on being in Laos in April or May. Could you tell me what tour agencies you've looked into though, please?? Cheers!

Hey there,
Over the years there were more and more agencies in Luang Namtha, and sometimes they change names, owners, managers. You might just walk from door to door and ask, what they can offer, and when.
From recent www search I found sparse information, how far the first damm is constructed, and what it means to the boatability of the river...
Enjoy your travels,
Tilo
