Just came back from a night in Nong Khiaw where we stayed at a place called the Mandala Ou Resort.
Lauren and I were invited as part of a group to help the owners work out the kinks during their opening week. We paid for our stay, albeit at a slight discount because the place is new and they wanted to get our feedback.
Location was beautiful -- right on the Ou River with a view of a huge limestone cliff. We stayed in a bungalow which faced the river, but there are cheaper rooms with a courtyard view. There's also a small pool with a view of the river. Breakfast was very good -- lots of fresh coffee, continental fare set out -- with eggs and bacon on request. One of the few opening week glitches was that it took a while for some of us to get our hot breakfast but, in a happy turn of events, they ended up sending out plate after plate of eggs and bacon until we begged them to stop! :-P
Not sure of the rack rate, but think it's probably in the USD$55-70 range. Highly recommend!
