We were booked for Sept but have now 'Reconsidered our need to travel' and chosen to stay in KK for the duration. However SJ did reply with the following:
"but just for your own peace of mind ScubaJunkie takes the security and safety of all our guests very seriously. We arein constant contact with the relevant authorities including the Malaysian Security Forces, Amy and Police and they have assured us that Semporna andMabul and the other surrounding islands are safe for tourists to visit. The Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib assured that the security situation in Sabah's east cost is safe. Our resort in Mabul has 24 hour security, and surveillance throughout the resort to ensure all our guests are secure during there stay. Our Mabul Resort is also built next to the new Esscom (Security forces base) and also next to the local police base again ensuring our guests have the highest security possible while visiting the area. Our customers are confident in the security and safety we provide and our resort is currently fully booked. We are proud to have been operating for over 10 years without any security issues and look forward to welcoming you to Mabul for a safe and enjoyable holiday."

Chances are you will enjoy your stay. The Sulu and Celebes seas have been known as a haven for pirates for hundreds of years. Though the modern day pirates usually pray on passing boats and attacks on resorts are much less frequent.
