Can I climb Mt Kinabalu on a budget?

Posted by k1ttyfantastic0 on 29/1/2015 at 01:29

Hi there

Has anyone climbed Mt Kinabalu on a budget? All the tours I have found are at least 500 for 2 days, 1 night. Wondering if anyone has any tips on reducing the price?

Thanks!

No. And you even have to be very quick+hope for the best to get it for that price in low season. Its only less for real; Malay schoolstudents.

I was there in October hoping to do the one day up-and-down thing so to avoid paying the cost of paying for a dormitory on the mountain.

They told us that they were no longer offering permits to climb the mountain in one day, but we were welcome to climb up to the halfway point for a 10 RM park entrance. So that's what we did. I think it was worth it, we got some amazing photos of the mountain in the morning.
