Security kinabatagan river

Posted by Bridgequeen on 19/2/2015 at 19:31

Hi I have just arrived in Kuching and was talking to people about my onward plans to sandakan and a river safari at kinabatagan (organized by harbor side backpackers). The general view was that I should be wary and there is a curfew in the area, anybody have any reliable info?

just did Borneo in Sept... wow, it feels like yesterday... anyway, unsure what 'security concerns ' there would be. maybe further around the coast but it seemed fine to me. i never felt unsafe anywhere in Borneo. i loved my kinabatangan river trip with Nature Lodge.

Thanks, decided to go ahead anyway and no problems at all. A Dutch couple I met though said their embassy was advising against travel
