Malaysia to Vietnam travel time

Posted by Leileilei06 on 28/11/2016 at 13:21

Hi. We are travelling from Philippines to Malaysia (via plane) and then planning to land travel malaysia to Hanoi. Is it possible for 1 week stay? Considering the bus and train rides. Thank you.

Well it is possible, but for a one week stay and assuming you were not going to stop along the way, it would be the slowest and most expensive method.

From KL the route would be something like train to Bangkok, then bus or train to the Cambodian border, then bus to Siem Reap, then to Phnom Penh then to Saigon. To do this would take (roughly) 4 days (depending on overnight stops and connections.

Alternatively AirAsia flies KL to Saigon direct for around US$50 and the flight takes 55 minutes.

somtam do not forget another 2 days to get up to Hanoi - they will not even have time to use the toilets at the bus/train stations

I would have thought nearer 5 days to even get to Saigon myself if they are going via Siem reap rather than crossing at koh kong
