Ko Pha-Ngan Accommodation Recommendation

Posted by melig on 22/3/2013 at 22:35

I will be traveling to Ko Pha-Ngan for about 4 days in July. My girl friends and I are going to the Full Moon Festival. Do you have any recommendations on accommodations? We would like to stay at a beautiful beach with mountain views that has reasonable ground transportation to Haad Rin for the Festival as well as in a location that has some activities to do and night life. We are not traveling with children and are very active, so would be interested in hiking and diving. We do not need to stay at a luxury resort but do not want to stay at the cheapest either.

Thanks for the help!

if you havent already done so - i'd suggest checking out the travelfish guide/reviews to Ko Pha Ngan

or Tezza (who often post on here) has a good guide to Thai beaches & islands

You can easily get from anywhere on the island to Haad Rin esp on FMP night/morning.

I was shocked at just how developed Haad Rin had become when I passed through last december - it just seemed geared up for the monthly party & so I wouldnt really recommend staying there.

Has the full moon party become a festival now? Its an experience - but its more like a massive freshers/freshmans/student drunken party on a developed beach these days - so be warned.. but thousands have a great time

People die at those parties. Cops set up drug arrests and people get drinks spiked. I enjoy a good beer but those FMPS are the last thing you want to go to - horrible music and it's a pissing contest in the ocean. If you're a group of girls, you'll be targets as the percentage of guys at those things is more than 80%. You'd have more fun going to a nightclub in Bangkok and having a dance.
