Good hotel/hostel

Posted by krystalt on 13/5/2013 at 08:26

I'm a college student travelling solo to Asia I will be in Cambodia for some time after I will be traveling to Loas, Luang Prabang and Chaing Mai, Thailand. I'm looking for cheap accommodation where it's a very social place, I'm a 20 year old college student. I want to stay at a place where it's not really family orientated. I also don't really don't care for things such luxurious hotel, Just one where it's I would meet new people, where it's really a sociable place. Any suggestions ?

Thanks !

I hate unaswered questions. The reason for this one 'til now may be it is too general - you have a bunch of places mentioned. Maybe if you decided where in each country you want to stay and then post individual asks for good hotels/hostels in each, you may do better.

Note in Thailand hostels are a bit scarce on the ground - in towns for budget travellers it tends to be local hotels and guest houses. In the islands bungalow resorts are more the go (a nice bungalow in Thailand costs me less than a dorm bed in popular Australian beach towns) Thing is most of these are great places for meeting fellow travellers as are restaurants and bars. If you are outgoing you will have no worries about meeting people. Lotsa single travellers tend to team up with others for all or part of their trip.

"accommodation where it's a very social place"

In Chiang Mai try Julie's Guesthouse which is very popular w/ many different priced rooms, lots of little hangout areas, shitty pool table, etc. or A Little Bird which is low-budget all dorm beds with a social hangout area in front.

Sorry the 2nd link seems to be down. Try

Also add to the list Green Tulip Guesthouse. Could be a good choice for you.

Thank you Captain_Bob, I like these places cheap and a lot of solo travelers really enjoyed it. I will most likely pick one of these, or maybe visit all of them, still not sure which one to pick at least i now have options. Thank you so much, much appreciated.
Also thank you to the other replies.
