Chumphon hotel and train

Posted by LeonardCohen1 on 20/5/2013 at 08:08

Looking for a hotel in the 1000-1500 baht range and also I read that it pays to buy a train ticket in advance to secure a good seat. Should we buy from the train station the day before or another way? We would be heading north to Prachuap afterwards.

Can't help you with the hotel I'm afraid Leonard, but this site might be useful to you as far as train travel is concerned: http://www.seat61.com/Thailand.htm

http://morakothotel.com/ is slightly cheaper than your stated range, but the newer building (Morakot Twin) does the trick for me.

do not know what your definition of a good seat is but would always recommend boking the special express train in advance to be on the safe side but most times you would be able to get a 2nd class seat on one of the sleeper services heading South

As for hotels plenty of recommendations and reviews in the Guesthouses, hotels and resorts section
