BAMBOO HUT

Posted by evacondes on 17/7/2007 at 16:51

Hi everyone, I'm planning to go to Thailand this august and I'm interested in staying at Bamboo Hut, I belive it's near Nan. Have someone a telephone or e-mail addres to contact them? Is it easy to find room there? is it necessary to book in advance?
And another thing: Which is the best way to arrive there? Is it a must to go to Chiang Mai or we can avoid it?
Many thanks
Eva

Hi Eva,

Bamboo Huts a great little place. William (the owner) has a mobile phone, but he isn't always in range.

I'd say no need to book ahead -- it's a very low-key, very basic operation -- even if he were full, I'm sure he'd be able to arrange something in the village. Just get a bus from Nan north to Pua and from there it's a songtheaw ride up to the turnoff to the village.

He has the COLDEST showers this side of Antartica...

Hi, I went looking for the Bamboo Huts 3 weeks ago,(November 2009) and unfortunately they are ruins! William moved to the south. I stayed just up the highway from the turn off to Ban Toei at Doi Phuka national park and did some outings through the park, cave, waterfalls, hiking (the park has a 4 km trail). The outings were not advertised but if you ask you can get them.
Beautiful area to see, great forests, but some clearcutting
Mike
At the aprk a bungalow is 300 Baht, and if you have your own tent it is 50 Baht

Ahhhh, this doesn't sound like a good time. Am I missing something here? Bamboo huts, cold showers... this sounds like my in-laws place before I moved them out of the stone age and into the 21st century.

mikemike -- that's a shame about Bamboo Huts -- did you notice if there was any other accommodation about other than the national park stuff?
