I want to know where the closest place I can get a durian is to the airport. I've read that maybe Huatakhe Market is the closest outdoor market? What do you guys think?
the problem you may run up against is seasonality as I mentioned on one of your other posts but I would think it is as good as anywhere - if you fail you could try one of the local supermarkets might cost more but for a final splurge then worth it
good luck - and don't sit next to me on the plane!
It IS duryen time now.
Passed by good old DMK today-AirAsia-and saw an enormous amount of produced/conserved duryen for sale in most shops-at notsolow prices, even though I know in local markets its also not cheap. Malays and Singys are great takers-for them it it even then still cheaper as here, KUL.
HTK is indeed the closest by and has the usual all day fresh market, incl. fruit/vegetables etc. It is along the railway-take ARL 1 stop-then the less frequent local train east, or the 549 bus to Minburi (likely only vans now-as the buses were burnt early this yr in the garage) from BUSterminal. Another one is at the south side of the runways along the main BangNa-trat megahighway. (name is Bang Phlee)-big bus 558 from same BUStrml.

theres a market within walking distance of the airport/station.
From the station cross the road (back to airport) and turn right and then take the first on the left and tucked away on the right is a market just after you have crossed the little stream
Sorry no idea just follow my directions it should be very easy to find - it is probably less than 50 metres when you turn right and I am sure someone would point you in the right direction in the very unlikely fact that you could not see it
is it Talat Mai Don Meuang (Don Meuang new market)? can have a look on Google streetview (13.916312,100.598454 on maps.google.com), rotate to face northwest with the Top Charoen on your left & Siam Commercial Bank on your right...that's one entrance at Choet Wutthakat Soi 9 if driving. market is spread out over the area southwest of that point.
go to that coordinate in Google Streetview, & then as i said, rotate to face northwest with the Top Charoen Optical outlet (building with blue & white stripes) on your left (south) & Siam Commercial Bank on your right (north). you'll see a 2 green arched awnings over a road that is Choet Wutthakat Soi 9. blue words on the larger of the 2 awnings says 'thang khao talad mai don meuang' (entrance to don meuang new market). you can't see the market stalls cos Google Streetview only shows the view from the main road. you'll have to walk in from this road to reach the market proper. you can access the market from the other end too - go further south along the main road & turn right at a 7-Eleven.
had typed in the name of the market in Thai script (ตลาดใหม่ดà¸à¸™à¹€à¸¡à¸·à¸à¸‡) but it appears as gibberish when i preview my post...
