Ko Phayam in May?

Posted by geo_shack on 21/1/2016 at 08:41

Hi folks.

Just going to be ending a trip in Myanmar with 10 days or so relaxation in Thailand. We intend to spend a few days at Koh Sok National park then on to an Island...

I realise the rainy season will be starting in May...will Ko Phayam likely be too wet to enjoy the beach around this time? (Mid may). Or would we be better off trying to find a quiet part on Ko Pha-Ngan or Ko Samui at this time of year for a few days beach bumming? No interest in partying etc.

Thanks in advance for advice!

Kind regards,

Georgia

El Nino seems to be messing with the weather quite a bit this year but Ko Phayam should still be fairly dry in May. August/September is when it's really wet. Most of the tourists will have left there by late March so it'll be pretty quiet and you should be able to get bargain rates for accommodation.

If the weather is bad, it only takes a couple of hours to get from Ranong to Chumphon by bus or minivan for ferries to the gulf islands.
