Any suggestions on a floating market that a family with two children can enjoy?

All floating markets are kid-friendly. Keep in mind that most floating markets only take place on Saturday-Sunday. The only one open on weekdays that can be hit out of Bangkok on a day trip is Damnoen Saduak, which is by the most touristy one. I suggest you go for a different one if possible.

For a relatively easy floating market not too far from Bangkok, I'd suggest Bang Nam Pheung first and Thaling Chan second.

For a full-day excursion you could go down to Samut Songkhram province to hit Amphawa and Tha Kha plus the Mae Khlong train market if you wish. Because this is somewhat hard (though certainly not impossible) to do on your own, a lot of travelers hit those markets as part of a tour.

All of these and more are described, and more in-depth articles on most of them are linked to, in this article: https://www.travelfish.org/sight_profile/thailand/bangkok_and_surrounds/bangkok/bangkok/3200

We visited Amphawa with our kids in 2015 as a day trip from Bangkok, and would recommend it. We grabbed a van from Victory Monument. Get your return ticket immediately when you get there to guarantee a seat for the way home. The boat tours are pleasant and we enjoyed stopping at the various temples along the river. Lots of seafood vendors along the canal, but our kids had some corn as they're not fond of seafood. Enjoy!
