Can anyone please tell me if they have purchased a train ticket on-line via thairailwayticket.com ? Looking into doing this from home country NZ before I travel. Thanks

Yes - it's the Thai state railways' official online ticket sales site (a similar version existed a few years ago, then they pulled it, now it's back), and it's reliable. Just be aware that you need to print your ticket and take it with you - they won't accept it on your phone/iPad screen etc.

Cheaper than other sites online, you mean? Yes, definitely - the prices you see on thairailwayticket.com are the real prices you would pay if you bought the tickets yourself at the train station. The only extra fees you pay are a per-ticket service charge (30 baht or so) and a credit/debit card payment fee (again, 30-40 baht or so). The other agencies selling train tickets online charge a comparatively hefty amount more.
