My wife and I will be in Khao Sok for 3 or 4 days in February and we're struggling to find a good tour to go on. It appears most tours offer an overnight option in a barebones floating bungalow, but we'd like a little nicer overnight stay on the lake. What have people done to book these lake tours?

This site - https://khaosoklake.com/ - has info and pics of all the resorts on the lake. It's run by a travel agency so you could try them. Or you could do an online search for Khao Sok tour companies and tell them what you're looking for. The area has many tour outfits that would be happy to put together a trip for you. You could also just show up in the village near park HQ and inquire at tour outfits in person. Some focus on group tours, but most offer custom-tailored tours around the lake and elsewhere in the park. There's also info on all of this in the Travelfish Khao Sok guide, which was last updated only nine months ago.

There is no need to book anything in advance when it comes to Khao Sok. It's a relatively quiet area in comparison to places like Phuket or Chiang Mai. When I visited I headed down to the lake paid the 30 baht National Park charge and found a longboat captain when we were there. Paid the guy in cash i can'r remember the exact price we paid but it was reasonable- probably around 2,000 baht for around six hours on the lake.
You've also got to try out the tubing down the river in Khao Sok, one of the best experiences there in my opinion.
