Hey Scones,

Interesting spot you have in P-lok. But most backpackers don't put the city on their itinerary, so what types of things would you say make it worth a stay? What fun things are there to do? What is it on the way to?

Also, do you have a website or a map so we can find where you are in relation to the train or bus station? Cheers.

Most backpackers follow the guide books and use this as a stop off to Sukhothai but if you took the time to see the city you would be very surprised.
It has many interesting things to offer for example,Wat Yai temple which is the most popular temple in Thailand outside of Bangkok. It houses the most beautiful Buddha image in Thailand.(Thais would say).
Also there is the very cool Sgt.Major Tawee folk museum and Buddha casting factory.
A more interesting 700 year old temple which has a herbal steam room, petanque bowls area, traditional thai massage school,a bodhi tree with a big hole in it,where people climb the silver stairs ring the bell and go through the hole then go down the gold stairs.Do this 3times for good luck, plus more And more.

Everybody who stays in the city rates it very highly.
This city also has some great bars and even floating restaurant/bars. Really good thai food can be found at the train station market or milk bars situated right on the river. There's even an all night market for those who can't sleep or want to witness real thai people going about their daily lives or should I say nightly lives.
There's no need to stay in Sukhothai, you can do it on a day trip and come back to Phitsanulok where real culture can be found. Not just ruins.
