Mt Everest Base Camp hike

Posted by cardkleener on 3/10/2018 at 15:31

Cannot find any other posts.
I'm looking for a reputable tour company for the EBC hike. I need suggestions. I'm planning on March 2020 perhaps sooner. I'm wanting the 12 day hike.
Also Insurance companies.
Thanks.

I can't help from personal experience with this one, but my friend Theodora has a pretty detailed Everest Base Camp FAQ on her site—may be helpful.

Cheers

EBC is a great way to explore the beauty of The Majestic Himalayas. Since you are planning to go there i will suggest that March to May and late Sept. to Nov are the best time to do EBC trek in Nepal. It’s totally free from the influence of Monsoon. Travelling in these periods of time, you will have a chance to see many beautiful peaks including Mt. Everest. The temperature will be well above 15 Celsius during the day time. Travelling from Late Sept. to Nov you will enjoy the superb visibility esp. going to EBC trek. While from March to May, the vibrant flowers and lovely wildlife would add new surprise to your trek.

Hi. Just a quick response. You don't need a guide, take a porter if you don't want to carry your own gear. I've trekked 5 times in the solo khumbu starting back in 1990 and more recently in both April and late September/early October this year. Each time starting and finishing in jiri, flying into and out of lukla ruins the trek.
The trail is easy to follow, but start early in the season. If not then the trail from monjo upwards will be full of human mules, by which I mean trekking group zombies. These things ruin the place so to avoid these idiots trek early. Be prepared for either a bit more cold or some leeches depending upon which season you choose.
Go to goyko rather than ebc, you'll get better views, less human mules and the accommodation /food is both better and cheaper.
Nepal is being ruined by trekking groups, please don't add to this.

Thanks for the info. I agree with the zombie trek. I don’t want that. I just want to see base camp. But I’ll heed your advice and research more. I don’t want a tour group. I’m more of a lone wolf.
