Arriving late in HCMC/Hotel advice

Posted by brilliantjoy on 5/5/2014 at 22:13

I will be traveling as a solo female in Vietnam min mid-June. Unfortunately, my flight doesn't arrive in HCMC until 1:00 a.m. After going through immigration/ customs and getting my bag, I'm assuming that it will be more like 2:00 ish before I am ready to leave the airport. I want to find a safe way to get to the hotel without dealing with the chaos of taxi service. I have not booked a hotel yet, but can anyone recommend me a hotel that is mid-range and reputable preferably in District one that has a shuttle or pick-up service?

Also, I will be entering Vietnam via visa on arrival. Does anyone know how long it might take to get everything processed at that time of the night? Thanks.

For Vietnam visa on arrival, it will take you 5 - 10 minutes to get your visa. Have you already Visa approval letter that apply by Vietnam travel company, you must have the letter to get on plane and get visa.

At 2am it is very difficult to get a shuttle or pick-up service, if yes the price is high, so I think you can take a taxi, it costs max. 200.000 VND = 10$, you can ask them before and take a photo to get taxi number. He will not make any trouble to you.
My advice for hotels, you should book in advance, you can compare price with the sites

My suggestion is that, next time, when you arrive in HCMC late and wonder if you could find a fine with reasonable price hotel, ask the taxi driver to go to SAIGON RIVER BOUTIQUE HOTEL at 58, Mac Thi Buoi, Ben Nghe Ward, Dist.1
This hotel is closed rather late, around 2am. On the outside, you may think it is closed because the light was turned off, however, on the inside, a handsome security is half sleep but he is always ready to open the door to welcome guests if he hear knockings. A nice receptionist is also there to help you doing the check-in as well. You will get a "cool" welcoming with a cool drink, too.

Besides, if you stay 7 days in this hotel, they will offer you 1 night free.
This promotion lasts until the end of October.
