Central VN Flooding - 2007NOV14 Update

Posted by CatBa2 on 15/11/2007 at 21:35

Flood conditions continue in Quang Nam Province and HOI AN.

HUE CITY IS CLEAR OF WATER (I am there as I post) so I recommend Travellers in Nha Trang skip Hoi An and proceed directly to Hue and vice versa.

Flying is simple as both Hue and Nha Trang have flights through Da Nang.

Since most Travellers are unprepared both physically, and mentally, for flooding I make this suggestion, albeit reluctantly, as Hoi An is a 'must see' place but with 3 feet of water you won't see / enjoy the town too much as the historic part is the worst affected by flooding.

In Hue one of the best standard hotels is:
Nguyen Tri Phuong Hotel
56 Nguyen Tri Phuong
Hue-Centre, TTH

Tel: 054-829-282
Fax: 054-849-482
GPS: 16N27.97 / 107E35.64
Rooms: 16; Largest 4; USD$4 (dorm); USD$8-12 other rooms.

and for those with limited funds (or just cheap):
66 Le Loi - a side street OPPOSITE the Century Hotel.
