Cai Be to Chau Doc

Is it possible to travel via boat / river / water way by boat (from Cai Be or Can Tho) to Chau Doc? We would then continue via fast boat to PP.

Most tours put everyone on a bus for this part of the river.



I would like to travel on the river to slow down and enjoy the scenery. It does not have to be luxury / commercial.



On local transport or hitching a ride sounds good. Is this worth while ?

I hitched a ride from My Tho to Tan Chau (fairly close to Chau Doc - we got a van from where the freighter dropped us off) but it was many many moons ago. It should still be possible, ask in a guesthouse to get someone to help you out with arranging passage on a cargo boat.

We reached Chau doc from Can Tho. I imagine the most straightforward way would be to get a bus fro Cai Be to Can Thao and then another to Chau Doc . The journey to Chau Doc took around 3 hours.

you can start from Can Tho to Cambodia by boat. You could go to Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho and book a ticket to Cambodia.
