In search of a great beach to visit in Vietnam - end of April

Posted by mtbakerstu on 15/3/2018 at 18:29

Hello Forum Members,

I'm planning a trip to Vietnam at the end of April, and wanted to get any input you may have on where I could go for a few days to be on the beach.

I'm partial to a beach village that has great, warm water waves for body surfing, and a mellow, indigenous beach scene- not overly developed.

Any input super appreciated. I'm looking south for the warmest waters.

Hi Mtbakerstu,
What do you mean by "indigenous beach scene"? I'm not sure if the following suggestions will have big enough waves during end of April for body surfing, but if you're looking for mellow and not overly developed for tourism, you may want to check out:
-Qui Nhon (city beach almost exclusively locals or domestic tourists, very few foreigners) and Bai Xep beach just a few km south (cheap beachfront backpacker accommodation, a rarity in Vietnam)
-Ninh Chu beach at Phan Rang-Thap Cham (there's winds and kitesurfing from Feb-Sept)
-Tuy Hoa
-Lang Co
-Con Dao

If you can let me know more about what you are looking for, I can help narrow it down.

I second Bai Xep near Qui Nhon (also spelled Quy Nhon)! A small, clean, unspoiled beach but rooms will be hard to get since Haven Guesthouse only has 4 rooms (there are a few other places, but HG is the best!)

See Bai Xep here

Haven Guesthouse is owned by Big Tree Backpackers (dorms), while Life's a Beach right beside has both dorms and private rooms. Book in advance and there shouldn't be a problem getting a room or bed in a dorm. Many people intend to only stay 1 or 2 nights and end up lingering for weeks.
