I and Sarah have been in Vietnam for 2 weeks so far - visiting Sapa,Hanoi, Halong Bay, Ninh Binh, Dong Hoi, Phong Nha National Park. We found that going by bus is the cheapest way of traveling in Vietnam. We are a budget traveler from England spending our holiday for 3 weeks from the North down to the South of Vietnam.
From our friends' photo trip for 5 years ago about Vietnam we realize that it has changed a lot. Most of people can speak English to help you everything. More and more travelers choose Vietnam for their holiday.
Every hotel we stay the receptionists or Tour Desk at hotel helped us to book bus tickets and suggested tour to see around the city. It seemed very easier traveling nowadays. One guy at Tour Desk also shared to us that just need to book 1 day before you traveling is ok. Only flight tickets need to book in advance for long term to get the cheapest one or super promotion.
Well, we want to share to you our best experience on bus from Hoian to Hue 2 days ago.
We stay at Tigon Hostel in Hue for 2 nights, everything was great inHue. We did 1 day motorbike to see highlights of the city with Royal Tombs,Pagodas, Forbidden citadel and Hue countryside. The next day we went to Bach Ma National Park for trekking trip. It's amazing.
We're looking for the best & cheapest way going to Hoian the receptionist suggested us to take daily bus from Hue to Hoian running by a local Hue tourist operator in Hue city with price was $9 (VND 180,000). Compare with other it was higher than $3 but it's worthy to pay. They use a minivan for 8 travelers not a big bus for 45 people, hotel pick up, English speaking tour guide included, they stop on the way at the lagoon for taking photo of fishing village, Lang Co Beach, spectacular Cloudy Pass between Hue & Hoian, Marble Mountain then dropped us at our hotel in Hoian while big bus 45 seating they don't stop on the way and drop you at Hoian bus station. (around 3km from center) We couldn't expect more than that with only $9.
Everyone said that Hoian is also a nice place to relax, or just walk around the old town to see the daily local life and of course beach relax. We can't wait for these days coming.
