We are travelling to Thailand beginning of next year. We arrive on 19th Feb and fly out on 25th March, so will be there for 35 days. Does this mean we will need to apply for a tourist visa or is it poss to get an extension on the 30 day rule?

Depending on your nationality, you should be able to get an extension for 15 days from the Immigration Dept in Bangkok.

Thanks for your help. I'm British and my partner is irish....so i hope this is okay??
I have heard a few stories about people not being allowed to board their flights in the UK unless they have a visa or flights out of Thailand within the 30 day period - so I hope this won't be a problem!

after reading a few posts on here i decided to ring my airline (Royal Jordanian airlines) my tickets were booked for 30-10-08 flying from heathrow and returning on the 10-02-09
they told me that i would not have been let onto the plane without a visa that covers them dates even though i was only going to spend 30 days in thiland,
i have now had to get a 2 entry visa costing £56.
your best bet is just to ring your airline to see what they say.
if u have any questions about visas you should ring the Royal Thai Consulate in Birmingham they were very helpful with me
Hadn't thought about checking with the airline, I will definitely do that!

Somtam, I thought the extension on the free entry stamp for most nationalities was only seven days now. Which countries get 15 days?
Extending a free entry stamp for one week (or two) costs exactly the same as extending a two month tourist visa for a month BTW... a whopping 1900B.
