1. Although I've elected for "Remember login: Enabled" in Preferences and can therefore return to the site eternally logged in, it seems the clock is ticking while I'm replying to a post. Is it possible to keep me logged in mid-reply (while I get distracted, go for coffee, etc,)? Very frustrating to get that "you must be logged in" and lose whatever I've written.
2. Posts become un-editable after a short time, even if no one has replied to them. I'd prefer to change that so ...
I just got a weird error when trying to start a topic that included a link in it. The link was to the travel videos section on Travelfish, but I've been unable to recreate the error to track the bug.
If you get any weird errors when trying to post a message, can you please let me know in this thread so that I can try and track it down.
Oh and any other bugs with the site, lemme know
Cheers all. ...
Just a quick note that we've made a few changes to the Travelfish member profile page. You can see an example here (my page).
Some of the changes are cosmetic rearranging stuff, but we have placed the map in (if you use it) and have also added a table up top that indicates some of the contributions a Travelfish member has been making to the site -- not all of these are active yet, notably "Discoveries" and "Photos uploaded" but I'll be writing more about them in a w ...
Just a quick note that I've removed the Twitter feed from the left column of the homepage as matters appear to have temporarily settled down in Bangkok. If/when things pick back up. I'll reinstate it.
If you've any suggestions on other journalists or pundits who should be included in the wrap, please let me know.
Just want to ask people to work to keep conversations on topic. Here is an example of a thread that has veered right off topic (and which I have now locked).
Our full user guidelines are here.
Obviously I have FAR better things to do than go through threads deleting piles of irrelevant staff -- that's what you have Idle Banter for -- please keep it in there and out of the travel threads. So please keep the above request in mind when you're posting.
I'm thinking of making a change to the forum to automatically close off threads after they have not received a comment for a long period, perhaps one or two years. In the case of travel companions, after six months.
The threads will still be live on the site, people just won't be able to comment on them.
Thoughts either way?
We've just added a new feature to the site that allows Travelfish members to select places they have visited in the region (that are covered on Travelfish) and then display them on a map. It's nothing too serious - just a bit of fun -- and from the map, other readers will be able to click through to read more about specific places, You can see my (incomplete) map here.
How does it work? Each location now has a new link above the main introduction text. You can see a sample here for Kra ...
If you're interested in some of the background behind Travelfish and what a typical day is like for me, I've been profiled (along with a bunch of other self-employed people) in a feature on TheNextWeb by Jon Russell. Some of the others are also doing some pretty interesting stuff.
The question is: How can I post thanks words to Travelfish forum?
Out of my heart, I wanna to say thanks very much in sincere to Travelfish forum. More and more joining this forum, more and more I feel passion on it, and find it very very helpful, for me also and for most of others travelers.
Here, not only I have a chance to share all experience we had about past traveling places we did with my family as well as with friends, but also I can got a big information about all others plac ...
If you use the private messaging system on Travelfish, please note that you need to reply to any messages VIA the private messaging system on the site. Do not reply to any email you receive notifying you you've got a private message -- if you do, that email just goes to a generic Travelfish account and the recipient will never get wind of it.
If you receive an email telling you you've got a private message, you need to click on the link, and go to Travelfish to reply to it -- only then ...
Hi all, due to some issue with iOS7 we've had to disable any maps with icons to the iPhone and iPad. So for example while our slowly growing map of Yangon should display the hotel markers on it if you look at it on your desktop or laptop, the map won't show on your iPhone or iPad.
Sorry about this -- we're waiting on a fix or workaround for the problem.
Just a quick note to apologise for the server collapses we've had over the last few days. These hamsters I tell you, it's like herding cats.
The problems (which we're still trying to figure out) have been complicated because I'm in Burma (super crummy internet) and my server admin star has been waylaid moving house... perfect storm and all that.
So, we're busy affixing bandaids and supplying extra hamster food and hope to have these problems sorted out if not now then as soon as I'm o ...
I've removed these two forum sections from the homepage feed meaning their latest topics will no longer appear on the homepage of the site.
If you've an interest in keeping up with them, they can be accessed directly via the forum homepage here and by the respective thread feeds here: Idle Banter - Culture & Politics.
Just a quick heads up that we're in the process of a big reworking of our weather section, and now all the sections are topped with a map up top that you can click on to see when the best time is to go somewhere and be given links for more information and so on.
You can see the main Thailand page here.
We've only marked a few points so far, but the plan is to add more as I have the time to write them. Any suggestions (and corrections please!!) much appreciated.
You'll also see that we have cl ...
We've recently taken on a resident programmer to assist me with getting the site shipshape. We've been working on the site's back-end over the last few weeks to make it easier for us to get the content onto the site and now that that is almost in the bag, we're shifting focus to the front-end of the site -- ie what you all see day to day.
So, if you have any features added to the site, be it small or large, please post it into this thread so we can take a look and prioritise what we're ...
Just a quick note we've added a quick post box at the end of the latest posts bit on the homepage as people occasionally get in touch telling me they can't figure out how to post. Hopefully this will make it clearer and easier.
Please note that you need to select which section of the forum you want to post to from the dropdown -- until you select one you can't post your question (as otherwise we don't know where to post your question).
Hope this is of use to some.
Well done to TravelFish for a fantastic site!
Couldn't figure out how to start a new thread till I realised you are using the term post which normally means a message or reply added to a Thread (or Conversation).
May I suggest that "Add a new post" is a standard way of saying reply or add another comment. But starting a new thread or conversation is saying you are starting a new subject with it's own posts/replies.
Bravo! Travelfish :o) ...
Another day, another year, almost another decade. Have put together a wrap on the last year over on my personal blog -- may be of interest.
Perhaps the most important bit:
"Well first and foremost it has seen our slowly growing membership continue to work to make the site the great resource it is. Thank you "” every single one of you "” even those who drive me a little mad."
That would be all of you forum regulars -- thanks -- and should you make it to Bali, ple ...
