I'm looking for recommendations of dive sites / shops for the isalnds above and a general concensus on where is best to dive. We're heading over in mid-december and the man wants to dive (he's fully PADI'd up). I know the area is no Ko Tao or Ko Maak, but where would he be best concetrating his efforts?
Thanks in advance!
Hi fellow fish
Any tips for good snorkeling spots in Thailand and Cambodia?
I am currently on Koh Phangan, which is pretty average for snorkeling, I have enjoyed Koh Tao on other trips.
I am travelling in Thailand and Cambodia for the next couple of months.
Any advice appreciated.
I'm toying with the idea of learning to dive in Koh Tao (so do the PADI Open Water course) when we're there next year.
I've through this forum and others but can't seem to find any recent definitive advice.

* Simple Life Koh Tao Diving / Koh Tao Wind Resort (BHT9,800 pp)
* Davy Jones' Locker / Silver Sands Hotel & Beach Resort (BHT9,800 pp)
* Planet Scuba (THB9,270 pp)
I think I'm leaning towards the Davy Jones' Locker/Silver Sands or the ...
We’ve just added a new feature story, titled “How to become a dive instructor on Ko Tao” written by someone who knows what she is talking about — an experienced dive instructor on Ko Tao!
The story is a useful read for anyone considering following this path and includes details on the cost of the various courses, the amount of time required to learn and, importantly, what you can expect to earn working as a dive instructor on Ko Tao.
You can read the full story here: How to become ...
Has anyone used Marina Divers before? They have a "deal" where you stay/dive package with Bamboo House and them and I was wondering if it was reasonable and they were a decent bunch.

This is based on my experience in April 2008 with ALADDIN DIVE SAFARI in Thailand. It was a lesson learnt in dealing with dive safari operators in Thailand. I never received "the promised reimbursement" due to the mishap incurred by me. I am posting this on dive web sites to caution all fellow divers to take note so that they can take the necessary precautions. All the best,
A gist of the incident is provided below. You could also view a detailed account of the communication (emails wi ...
Chris Mitchell over at Asian Diving portal DiveHappy has put together a comprehensive review of the new Lonely Planet Diving And Snorkeling Thailand.

I know it's not really legal without a proper work visa, but still - does anyone know if it's possible, and what are the best areas to work in?
Also, my boyfriend wants to do a dive course (the 6-month instructor one!!) so that's why i want to go and work.
The course he's looking at is in Pattaya, but i really don't want to go there!! Can anyone suggest a good dive school in ...
