I have had a read around the forums and also the recent travelfish article but can't get my head around the money for Burma. In particular, what combination of denominations would people suggest to take?
Lets say I stay for 28 days and budget at $30.00 a day ($840.00). I guess I would need another $100 or $200 spare also, good idea??
If this is the case, I would appreciate any suggest as to how to break that down.
Thanks for your help ...
ill be entering burma this november and will have my unlocked global phone with me as i plan on using prepaid sims in thailand and cambodia. is it dangerous for me to take this to burma? Is this something they check for and would they keep it if they found it?
Im wondering mainly because it will be with me and its not like I can use it in Thailand and then stash in somewhere before Burma... so not sure what I should do.
Hello, I'm going to Burma in 11 days from Bangkok. I already payed the visa on arrival, I chose the option 1 that it takes 2 weeks to the visa get ready. So I just saw "the 2 weeks" after I payed, anyone knows what can i do to fix that mistake? The option 2 Express is more 20 usd, is it possible pay the difference or I just have to buy another visa, now Express.
Thanks in advance.

If this story is accurate, it is very big news...
Unfortunately it carries no direct quotes, which, given the circumstances, can be tricky, but if true, it is very big news for the nascent Burma tourism scene. ...
Hi, I need sound advice on my travel plans and whether they are feasible.I have travelled Thailand and Cambodia for some 10 years now(on and off!)and this time around I was hoping to visit either Laos or Burma for one week.My plan is to fly direct to Chiang Mai for several days and then one of the beforehand mentioned. On leaving either of these I then wish to go to Battambang and Siem Reap before heading to Ko Tao in Thailand...Am I being too optimistic here?I only have 24days!!Thanks in ...
With all the chit chat about the loons who run Burma being rumoured to be trying to build a few nukes, ArmsControlWonk has a very interesting bit of satellite imagery from Burma with an odd building that nobody seems to be able to make sense of.
Take a look at the post -- what do you think it is?! ...

We are currently in the middle of a six month trip around Asia and have just decided to add Myanmar to our Itinerary based on what we have heard from other travellers.
Reading our guide it seems the big four of Inle Lake, Mandalay, Bagan and Yangon should take about a month.
We plan to enter from Mae Sai in the north of Thailand and fly out of Yangon.
Has anyone done this Itinerary for Myanmar and if so do you think it is possible to do the big four in 3 weeks? Also can you get a Mya ...
I know this site doesn't cover Burma but I hoped someone out there could give me some advice. I would like to visit Burma this February in order to evaluate the state of Buddhism there. Plane tickets from Bangkok to Rangoon are expensive and I'd much rather go through the Mae Sot border crossing from Thailand if possible. I've read that the border crossings sometimes close unexpectedly depending on the political situation. How real is this possibility? Does anyone have experi ...
Hi you Travel Fish guys,
I really think you're doing a great job with your website. It's been a great help in preparing my trip to Laos and Cambodia. And now I'm trying to help other people as well.
Just one question: any change that you'll expand your site with Burma/Myanmar?
My daughter and I are spending a month off from teaching in Thailand/Laos and want to cross over into Myanmar/ Burma if not a hassle! Any suggestions? for WHERE to enter/ places to stay for under $40 per double? other tips and concerns for 30 and 60 year old experienced travelers ...
