Hi! First of all, apologies if this post is in the wrong place, but I'm quite new to this site.
My husband and I are traveling to SEA in November for 3 weeks, but can't make op our minds to go for either Loas combined with Cambodja or Burma. We have already been to Vietnam and Indonesia and would like to something that's a bit 'different' from the things we've already seen. In our vacations we look for a mix of natural beauty (landscapes, wildlife, some trekking) and culture. All 3 countries se ...
This will be handy. Starting 1-Sep-2016 e-visa can be used to enter Myanmar by land at the three main checkpoints. Previously was only allowed for air entry.
"We are pleased to announce that starting from 01/09/2016, eVisa can be used to enter Myanmar from the following three land border checkpoints, between Myanmar and Thailand:

I land into Bangkok on 26th December and would ideally like to spend some time in Thailand until New Year... perhaps Ko Phayam, but open to ideas! I fly out of Yangon on the 17th January. Seems to be so many options to explore in Burma, I'm a little overwhelmed. What are the must see and dos?
I'd love to experience the best of the food, the people, river cruises and possibly beach huts by the coast, as well as ideally Bagan and Inle. Not as fussed by major cities, and I think that ...
I will be flying in and out of Bangkok in November for the entire month. I have some things I need to do in Thailand but I am very flexible. Except needing to spend American Thanksgiving in Bangkok. I have been to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. I would like to visit Burma and Laos. I will be traveling alone for the first time in my life! I hold an American and Thai passport so I don't believe I need a visa to enter Burma via 3 major airports or Laos at all. The flights from Burma to L ...
I am looking at going into Burma in Dec/Jan 2016/17 is this a good time, weather, tourist overflow, low season/high season.
At this stage I am looking to fly into Yangon and spend my time mooching around there, would be interested in good places to stay, not budget and not high end, where to eat, where to drink etc, hiring a guide/driver without supporting the Cronies.
Any and all advice, recommendations will be greatly accepted.
We are keen on enjoying some festivals while in Burma in January but I'm finding it difficult to find dates and locations. No doubt they're a moving target anyway. Meanwhile, I know we need to book high-season accommodations ASAP. What's the best resource for figuring out festival logistics?
Additionally, I'm curious about your opinion on Inle Lake vs Hpa-an. We will have a 2-week itinerary, and I don't want to do more than 3 locations: Yangon, Bagan and ??? ... My favorite place ...

Hello! I will be traveling to Myannmar for a few weeks from Thailand and was wondering about the visa situation for traveling to myannmar by land...Will an online e-visa work? I read somewhere that they only work if you are flying in to Myannmar and getting the visa approved in the airport..so I don't know what to do since I am traveling by land from Thailand. Your insight would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you.
Also, if anybody knows any information about traveling to Myannmar from Thailan ...
I'm planing on entering Burma overland to Dawei, finishing a 3-weekish trip at Inle Lake. Is it possible to get a direct flight from either Heho airport or Bagan to Thailand? Or is this only possible from Yangon/Mandalay?
I am disappointed. Travelling to Burma September 2016 on an Aussie passport and was planning to get the 28 day tourist visa with an extension of another 14 days. The AU Myanmar Embassy informed me that they have been advised this month that no visa extensions will be possible, at all. Is this correct? Is it just in AU, before I leave, that I cannot get the extension? What about in Burma itself? I don't want to cut the planned trip back really. Thanks for the advice on current situation. ...
"Ma May Kyaw Linn and Ko Mae Lay own their push carts, but others lease them from one of the many big, private and illegitimate trash collection outfits that supplement the YCDC’s efforts. Although YCDC employees, whether driving garbage trucks or pushing carts of their own, work to a timetable and only appear at certain times, the freelancers are on hand every morning to make your trash disappear."
An interesting story on Yangon's freelance trash collectors. ...

We'd like to go to Burma to get an Indian Tourist Visa (6 months preferably, multiple or single entry) and wonder if you know what are the chances of getting this visa there? We can provide return ticket and iterinary.
If 6 months is impossible, we'll go for 3 months too of course.
So anyone who succeeded in this recently (this month or any month this year) if you could share your experience and assurance, I would be so ever grateful.
We did some research and don't see anywhere that says ...
My other half and I will be travelling to Bangkok in Mid April with about two weeks to be spent in Burma. We are away for 3 1/2 weeks in total, but he wants to spend some time in Thailand too, as he's not been before...
We're both late 20's. Not interested in partying but like the odd beer break to punctuate sightseeing! Easygoing travellers...I wouldn't usually worry about an itinerary but just want to make sure most is made of time in Burma with travel time being quite long bet ...
A friend and I are looking for 2 more people to join us on a trek to remote villages in Chin State, followed by the Chin National Day festival where tribal people from all over the state come to celebrate their heritage, performing traditional dances. We have found a local trekking agency that gets great reviews and offers this trip for half the price of competitors. The trip is 14 to 21 February, departing from and returning to Bagan.
What can you expect? According to the guide, "the most ...
-can anyone please recommend a cheap boat trip in burma?
-no luxury, no large groups, 5 people max.
-maybe 2 or 3 nights.
-is it possible to hire a "guy with a boat" somewhere for a river trip to explore a part of the country?
