Best way to see Angkor Temples with a 4 yr old?

Posted by ZPeppiatt on 15/4/2010 at 06:11

Hi, Had a quick look and couldn't find anything about this, so sorry if it's been posted before. We're planning on spending about a week in Siem Reap late May/early June - it's just the two of us and our 4 yr old son. The plan is to take it very easy, seeing a few of the 'main' temples over 2 or 3 days, broken up with days in Siem Reap so it's not temples, temples, temples for little 'un. I'd prefer to cycle round if possible, but not sure how feasible this would be with a 4yo. Does a ...

Independence Beach Sihanoukville

Posted by criss1 on 6/5/2010 at 20:55

I plan to stay at the Independence Hotel for 7 days in January with my wife (we are both 60ish) but your travel guide suggests that much of the nearby beach is closed to the public pending 'construction'. Has anyone been there recently or know whats going on & whether any of this is likely to spoil being in what is hoped to be a quiet part of Sihanoukville (especially as it costs more money to stay here). We are trying to be some distance away from where there's lots of nightlife or noisy area ...

Siem Reap Tour Rate

Posted by Babalugats on 17/5/2010 at 18:47

I plan to visit Angkor Thom, Bayon, Terrace of the Elephants and Ta Phrom next month (June 17 to be specific). I met a tuk tuk driver on Facebook who said that his price for that itinerary is 15 US dollars. It will be my first time to visit Siem Reap, so I have no idea if his rate is reasonable or not. I'll appreciate your replies on this. Thank you. ...

BBK to Siem Reap, avoiding Bangkok

Posted by maribsa on 31/5/2010 at 17:49

Is it possible to travel overland from Bangkok airport to Siem Reap, without passing through central Bangkok? We are going in early July, and are trying to have back-up plans in case the conflict gets violent again. And, has there been any serious incidents in the regions on the Bangkok - Aranyapathet route? ...

The Flicks Cinema Phnom Penh

This is a great place to chill out and watch a movie with a cold beer. It's got air-con and a BIG screen and is the only place you can see western movies in PP. It's at #39, Street 95, near Toul Slang (S21) museum. Their schedule is on ...

Discovery Pass or Excersion Fare with Lao Airlines

Posted by waymaur on 7/6/2010 at 19:30

WE will be in Siam Reap in July and want to fly to Luang Prabang for a few days then on to Hanoi. The Thai airlines office in Australia says we have to fly one leg with Thai Airlines to take advantage of Discovery Pass. This makes an extra trip and would be more expensive. Lao Airlines has an Excersion Pass between the destinations but inform us that we must purchase tickets at one of their offices in Asia. Is this true or can Excersion Pass be purchased from travel agents in Australia? ...

Getting a visa for China in Cambodia?

Posted by sunwreck on 10/6/2010 at 09:10

U.S passport holder. Is it viable to get a Chinese visa from the Chinese consulate in Phnom Penh as opposed to going all the way to HCMC? I've had visas for China in the past even a two year visa when I was working there. I've just never tried obtaining a visa for China in SE Asia before and I can't find anything online about obtaining it from Cambodia so hopefully someone may have some first or second-hand experience they can share. Cheers! ...

Cambodia travel in August/Sambor Prei Kuk?

Posted by ashleycarmen on 15/6/2010 at 20:54

Hello, Due to work reasons I am only able to make a trip to Cambodia during August. I was wondering what the weather is like then and how torrential the rain will be. I've read reports ranging from "it's the best time of year. discount hostels/tours, less tourists, and the best time to see Ankor dust free and lush with green vegetation." to "Leeches in puddles, downpour with no visibility, roads destroyed." I expect variation depending on the weather. I will be only travelin ...

2 Weeks in Cambodia - How long to spend in each place?

Posted by scahn on 10/6/2010 at 16:27

My friends and I will be travelling in Cambodia for 2 weeks towards the beginning of December. We're all 19 so we'd like a mix of everything not only the backpackers scene. I've found on this amazing website a suggested itinerary but what I'm really after are suggestions of how long to spend in places or maybe some are just day trips? I would really appreciate some advice on how long to spend in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and suggested places like Battambang, Sihanoukville, Kep, Kompong Cham and ...

Sihanoukville, Battambang, or more in Laos?

Posted by nineonestreet on 23/6/2010 at 23:47

I only have 20 days to spend in Cambodia and Laos this summer. I realize this isn't nearly enough time, but I'd like to try to cover as much ground as possible. I was thinking about 2-3 days each in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Vientiane, Vang Vieng, and Luang Prabang. This leaves me 2 or 3 extra days. Is Sihanoukville or Battambang a "can't miss" destination? Or should I spend more time in one of the places I named above? Can I spend less time in any of the aformentioned places? ...
