Angkor App for iPhone. Good idea?

Posted by DuncanStuart on 9/2/2010 at 06:51

I've just read the review of the Travelfish iPhone app which acts as a guide around Angkor and Siem Reap - and I came away somewhat depressed. My feeling is that this kind of thing will severely dent the livelihoods of local guides and will in that respect set locals back - not forward. The second feeling was purely one of personal taste rather than ethical. I'm picturing young backpackers walking round with their bloody iPhone, instead of walking around with their eyes wide open to the amaz ...

Posting problem

Posted by eastwest on 11/2/2010 at 09:51

Hi Somtam I couldn't find the right place to tell you this. But it seems that there is a slight bug in the software (or I'm just a silly user). Normally when I have posted something (not that often) I use the back button and then my post is being posted again in the same thread. I have seen this also from some other writers. I do get some sort of question which is too long and I normally "enter" that away. Now I realize it is asking if I want to post it again. Off course it is a nic ...

Cambodia to Laos and back to singapore in 14 days

Posted by andrewlewis on 10/2/2010 at 14:02

I am currently in singapore and leaving for siem reap in the morning. I have vague travel plans but know that I have to be back in singapore by the 24th and I have a flight from siem reap to prabang on the 15th. As far as getting down through Laos I plan on just meeting people in hostels and tagging along or just taking busses around. I don't mind traveling by myself but I am little bit nervous about the trip I am setting out on, this being my first time in asia. I am having difficulties trying ...

Phnom Penh - 2 nights - recommendations please

Posted by smash on 30/12/2009 at 04:47

Hey all Unfortunately due to a string of events, we've ended up having to really cut down our trip duration... So have two nights in PP - arrive PM from HCMC by bus and then leave for Siem Reap in the morning (hopefully in time to see Angkor at sunset). pretty much means just have one full day in PP. So my questions are: 1. What is the best area to stay in? We'll book accommodation before we go to save time/hassle 2. What are two MUST SEE sights that we could do in the AM and then ...

It mentions in the story that the teacher isn't permitted to go to the US with the students -- the reason for that is explained in this Time story -- kudos to KK. Well worth a read ...
