Posted by gromi1705 on 14/7/2008 at 18:13

Anybody give some infomration about what would be a good way to travel from Pakse to Phu Quoc in November? This would just be a quick pass through as I want to have a couple of days on the beach on Phu Quoc after traveling in Laos at the end of my vaccation. Would want to keep Cambodia for the next journey (hopefully next year). ...

late 20s females, need 1 more place for itinerary

Posted by femaletraveler on 12/7/2008 at 13:57

My cousin from London and I, from San Francisco are leaving for Cambodia next Thursday (Expect to arrive 17th). I am traveling for a total of 17 days but intend to only dedicate 10 days in Cambodia. We know we want to visit SR and PP. Haven't decided exactly how many days at each place. I do love history but can foresee getting templed-out after one too many days. Looking for one more place and would love to hear your-must-not-miss city. We're both from the city so would like a plac ...

Refreshing notes on Cambodia

From one-handed pool with a lady boy in Siem Reap's Temple Bar, to the pros and cons of giving a dollar to an old woman begging on a Sihanoukville Beach -- who just happens to be carrying her disabled husband on her back... Worth a read -- what do you think? http://texturbation.com/blog/ (found via Details are Sketchy -- http://detailsaresketchy.wordpress.com/) ...

no more e-visas????

Posted by Window_seat on 2/7/2008 at 20:13

I purchased a Cambodian e-visa a couple weeks ago. Plan to enter Cambodia on Sunday. I just received an email from 'e-Visa' stating that "On the 28th of June 2008, the official Cambodia e-Visa website was removed without any prior notice and reasons given." As far as I can tell, the evisa website is indeed gone. Has anyone tried to enter Cambodia with an e-Visa in the last few days? I'm hoping the worst case scenario is that I'll just have to buy another visa at the border.... ...

New Museum in Siem Reap and more

Posted by efkphd on 29/1/2008 at 06:03

Just returned from Siem Reap. Check out the new museum, it's truly terrific. Entrance fee is $12, but worth it. Might be a useful stop before visiting Ankgor Wat. Siem Reap is a surprise, lots to do in town with a vigorous tourist scene near the market; streets and alleys closed off to traffic and filled with open air restaurants. We stayed at the mid-range City River hotel in a quiet location within 10 min. walk to the market. Small restaurants next door were excellent and inexpensive. Best tim ...

Australian family of 4 looking for alternative and interesting routes from PP to coast near PQ island. Don't mind a bit of "roughing it" as long as it is reasonably safe, rewarding and not too taxing for us 50 year olds ...the teenage kids will cope!? Hoping to do the PP-PQ Island-HCM City loop in 6 days with 3 days on the island...are we pushing it? Great thing this Travelfish...was impossible to get such support and insight when we backpacked Asia in early 90's...thanx to all involved in this ...

ATM's in Cambodia

I've just updated my page of where ATM's are located in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. There are now 26 ATM's in PP and 7 in SR, which is strange when you consider that SR get 90% of the tourists. http://www.guesthouse-phnom-penh.com/Phnom-Penh/Phnom-Penh-Money.php ...

......Aloha, I made a trip to Angkor wat a few weeks back and got a driver from the taxi queue at the siem reap airport. His name was chan thol and he was very kind and knowledgeable. he new a lot of good things to do at night and knew about all the temples in the area. he had a nice newer camry with an icy cold aircon. To be honest, he almost was too good of a negotiator when we went shopping , I felt I was paying too little sometimes…but I guess if I was the sellers wouldn’t sell right? ...

2 full days in Siem Reap - do we need more?

Posted by azgrl on 28/5/2008 at 06:49

We have a Cambodia/Laos trip planned for 14 days in July. We’re starting off with 2 full days in Siem Reap with a evening in the front and morning at the end of the 2 days. Any opinions on whether that’s enough time in Siem Reap before going to Laos? We can change some of the other following plans. REP to LPQ – 1 day, Catch a boat to HOE – 2 days, Head off to the Gibbon Exp. – 2 days, Travel to LNT – 1 day, Make our way to LPQ – 4 days, Spend a few days there before dep ...

One month in Cambodia/Vietnam - Where to start?! Help!

Hi My boyfriend and I are planning to go over to Cambodia and Vietnam for a month in January 2009, flying from London Gatwick or Heathrow (TBC). We ideally would like to spend a week in Cambodia and then three weeks in vietnam, finishing up at in the south and Phu Quoc Island. We are hoping to 'flash-pack' so are happy to pay a little extra to get air-con and fly internally if need be! We did a similar thing last year but spent three weeks in thailand. We booked most of our internal flight ...

Honest local guide in PP and Siem Reap?

Posted by sputnik0 on 6/6/2008 at 10:39

Is there a way to set up a permanent thread for local guide suggestions? My two girl friends and I will be traveling to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap this June from Saigon. Should we go to PP or SR first? Is there anyone who lives or has lived in these cities who can recommend an honest local guide who speaks English to show us around, preferably with transportation too? We are planning to spend 4 days in both cities total. So maybe 3 days in Angkor and surrounding area and 1 day in PP? Is ...
