rounding up a posse to go to cambodia

Posted by yoooohooo on 8/8/2008 at 22:23

Hi my name is Ian Hawkes I'm 30 years old and I'm looking to join or round up a posse of people to go to Cambodia. The goal being to find a great beach location and instead of paying $10+ per night we all chip in and rent or buy a house or piece of land and we develop it ourselves. Now this makes sense for me because I'm gonna stay for about 6 months maybe more. At the moment I'm just going to chill and visit a few temples etc using the beach spot as base camp. I'm thinking about flying out ...

Sihanoukville beaches

Posted by CJ79 on 9/8/2008 at 01:38

I'm sending this message to any of you that might be considering a trip to Cambodia. I was there for more than a week. Siem Reap was interesting and I had a great stay at EarthWalkers Hostel, which is run by some great people from Norway. I also went to the capital and saw the Killing Fields. Next, I went to the beach in Sihanoukville. At the beach I stayed at Coasters. It was okay, but rained countinuously. When it stopped raining on Tuesday around 3:30pm I took a walk going East along the beac ...

organised trips - worth the money?

Posted by abs197 on 21/7/2008 at 19:07

Hi, Im planning to go to cambodia to do some volunteer work with an NGO for around 6 months (Oct 08-March 09) and then travel throught SE Asia for around 2-3months. I am looking at going on organised tours through STA travel or intrepid, partly because I am travelling on my own so thought this would be a good way of meeting people and safer than travelling alone. I am looking at paying around about £400 (+food) for 20 or so days travel on a "basic" tour. I wonder if anyone has any advice on ...

Laos or Cambodia

Posted by gromi1705 on 14/7/2008 at 15:10

Want to travel to either country mid october for 3 weeks. As I do not want to rush and really get a good impression (mainly traveling for landscape and people)I am thinking of either doing Northern Laos or Cambodia (Siem Reap, Battanbang, Pnom Penh, Kratie and Kep, (Ratankiri?)). Any advices which country to choose? Suggested itineris welcome. I might have the chance to add 1 week for beach but Sihanoukville doesn't sound to inviting (prefer the quiet) ...

HCMC to PP

Posted by mattconn on 23/7/2008 at 14:02

Hi All My wife and I are planning to travel from HCMC to Phnom Penh via the Mekong Delta in mid October. We're undecided if we'll do an organised tour or DIY, but we know we'd like to travel at least part of the way by boat. My question is: Are there any issues with river flooding at this time of year? Has anyone experienced the Mekong at this time of year, and what were your experiences like if so? Thank you all for your help! ...

Getting from BKK to Siem Reap: Would it make more sense to 1. Overland to Aranyaprathet to Poipet to Siem Reap (as per travelfish artcile http://www.travelfish.org/feature/71) or 2. Fly BKK to Phomn Penh on Air Asia then bus (or taxi?) to Siem Reap? How long would each option take? How much would each cost? Thanks! ...

Siem Reap to Poipet

Posted by Dasu on 20/7/2008 at 12:09

Hi I will be travelling to Cambodia and Thailand next January. I trevelled from Siem Reap to Poipet by Bus/taxi in 2006, and the road was pretty rough and dusty. Just wondering if there have been any improvements to the road? An alternative would be to travel north and cross the border at O Smack, which is closer to where I am going in Thailand (Buri Ram). Anyone have info on this option. ...

My cousin from London and I, from San Francisco are leaving for Cambodia next Thursday (Expect to arrive 17th). I am traveling for a total of 17 days but intend to only dedicate 10 days in Cambodia. We know we want to visit SR and PP. Haven't decided exactly how many days at each place. I do love history but can foresee getting templed-out after one too many days. Looking for one more place and would love to hear your-must-not-miss city. We're both from the city so would like a plac ...

no more e-visas????

Posted by Window_seat on 2/7/2008 at 20:13

I purchased a Cambodian e-visa a couple weeks ago. Plan to enter Cambodia on Sunday. I just received an email from 'e-Visa' stating that "On the 28th of June 2008, the official Cambodia e-Visa website was removed without any prior notice and reasons given." As far as I can tell, the evisa website is indeed gone. Has anyone tried to enter Cambodia with an e-Visa in the last few days? I'm hoping the worst case scenario is that I'll just have to buy another visa at the border.... ...
