I'm interested in going from Phnom Penh to Sen Monorom in one day, hopefully having enough time to do some sightseeing there before dark. I hear pickups leave from Psar Thmei in the early morning. Planning to stop for an overnight in Kompong Cham on the way back. Anyone done this route? Advice, caveats, etc? ...

Interactive Cambodia weather map

Posted by somtam2000 on 23/3/2008 at 19:25

Ok, I admit it, I've had a few days off, painted the house, thrown up the feet a bit, but now I'm back on deck! I've just added in an interactive weather map for Cambodia (interactive in that you mouse over different areas for the weather in each region). It was a bit of a struggle to get accurate data for Cambodia (they've had bigger issues than measuring rainfall over the last decade or so) and on a couple of occasions I found myself going back to pre-global-warming 1954 data collected by ...

Hi, is it still true that if I purchase my pass after 4pm, I am permitted to enter the park that afternoon for free? Do you know if I can bring my own photo for the 3-day pass or do I have to line up for a photo? I heard rumors saying that there is a long line up at the ticket office - I want to find ways to speed up the process! ...

Svey Rieng - Toss out your Lonely Planet guide

Posted by allen_moretsky on 8/3/2008 at 10:23

My first trip to Cambodia I had no guide and so hitch-hiking around the country I stayed with Cham people on the coast in their homes and never ever saw another tourist. This time I had a Travel Guide and ended up in Sihanoukville where I counted no less then 20 beach verndors per hour trying to sell me various items. It was not until I decided to go to Svey Rieng which Lonely Travel pans, that I got a fresh breath of Cambodia. Not that this place is heaven, but it is not so touristed as seems t ...

Is it possible? I'm a Canadian currently living in Japan, and my passport expires in 12/08. My husband & I are traveling to Siem Reap for just a few days in July. Will I be denied entry for having less than 6 months validity, or is it just a matter of paying a little more $. I'd rather not have to apply for a new passport in Japan. ...

Good French Speaking guide for Angkor

Posted by familyonthemove on 13/2/2008 at 15:09

We will be seven adults to visiting Siem Reap and its temples for five days in March. With 5 of us between 75-85 years old and mainly French speaking, we need to organise our visit accordingly. I know it is not difficult to organise tour guides via hotels, but a good and knowledgable guide makes all the difference and I would like to know if there is a way of finding an authorised French-speaking guide (through Tour Guides Association, or other organisations). Also with seven people ...
