Help planning first trip to Cambodia

Posted by remsam on 26/3/2014 at 11:55

I will be visiting Cambodia for the first time later this year and would greatly appreciate some input on where I should visit. I am flying into Phnom Phen and will be traveling solo for the first 9 or 10 days of my trip. I will then be joining a friend in Siem Reap for 4-5 days. I'm not sure how I should divide the first 9 to 10 days while I'm on my own. I assume I should spend the first 2 or 3 days in Phnom Phen but am not sure where to go next. I know I want to visit Battambang on my w ...

Hi, I am travelling to Bangkok on 1st October and I am travelling solo for first 3-4 days. Considering to spend 3-4 days to see Cambodia, Angkor wat and nearby places and then return back to Bangkok. I have 3-4 days in Cambodia. Is the weather conducive to the plan ? Are 3 days enough to see something more than Angkor wat ? I am considering that coming from Bangkok, Visa to cambodia will be on arrival and Visa to Bangkok from Cambodia will be on arrival as well.. Am I missing something her ...

Cambodia beach sand fleas

Posted by Debbyc on 9/8/2014 at 21:34

From what I have read in many places, it makes it sound like sand fleas are a real problem on the less populated beaches of the Cambodian islands and beaches. Is that true? I don't mind bugs here and there, and they sometime creep into your room at night. But I am adverse to rodents in my abode and not being able to enjoy an early morning or late afternoon on the beach without being slathered in DEET. Bugs and animals outside are fine. We will be in Siem Reap, and want to spend the end of the ...

Travelling around Cambodia

Posted by Yorkshire_Kiwi on 21/3/2014 at 20:18

We are currently in Cambodia and have been to Siem Reap and are now in Battambang. We would like to see as much of Cambodia as possible, including the Ratanikiri region. Which would be the best way around the country to do this so we finish somewhere where we could get to the south of Vietnam? Time is not a problem. ...

Hi, I am at Koh Chang in Thailand right now and will go to Cambodia tomorrow. I will cross border at Hat Lek / Koh Kong . I want to go to Siem Reap first. Moving in from the Philippines to Cambodia

Posted by redpirate427 on 5/7/2014 at 12:21

Hi, We are a childless Filipino couple in our mid-30s with location independent jobs, so we were thinking if it would be doable in the long run (or at least a few months) to live anywhere in Cambodia or neighboring countries for much cheaper than we spend now. We are used to roughing it; i.e., no A/C, no TV, no hot shower. Just clean beds, decent indoor plumbing, and proximity to cheap and healthy food. WiFi would of course be a requirement. Would it perhaps be possible to live on US$400 a mont ...

Siem Reap to Kratie

Posted by cambod123 on 25/7/2014 at 09:35

Hello, We are currently in Siem Reap and would like to travel to Kratie. Because we had some problems with the bus (Sorya) from PP to here (took a very long time, due to beginning of rainy season?), I thought it would be a good idea to ask here how we best get to Kratie. It's ok if it's a bit more expensive, if faster or more comfortable... Thanks! ...

Bringing my motorbike to Siem Reap...doable?

Posted by comtam3000 on 4/6/2014 at 03:48

I'll be traveling Cambodia on my 110 win starting tomorrow. I've read a few places on the net that riding in Siem Reap can get your bike impounded unless you pay a hefty fine. I was hoping to explore the Angkor temples myself by motorcycle. Has anyone else done this? Thanks in advance for your help. ...

Is there some operators who organises this little trip or we have to ask ourselves a fisherman with a boat? Thank you so much! ...

Botum Sakor National Park destroyed

Posted by gregmccann1 on 22/6/2014 at 22:38

A Chinese developer has clear-cut 45,000 hectares of Botum Sakor National Park down in Koh Kong and evicted all families living there. I know a guy who lives down that way and he estimates about 80 wild elephants have been rendered homeless as a result of this project, and they are now coming into conflict with humans. It's sad that the original vision of preserving this area as a site of natural heritage of virgin jungle on the coast with wild beaches has been sold to a Chinese developer that ...
