Want to see one of these shows on my next trip back in Sept. Unfortunately I can't go when the annual sound and light show is held at Angkor Wat itself so I figured I would try one of the many dinner dance shows on offer.
Has anyone been to one? Which one? Was it nice or tacky?
Thanks for the info! ...
New member here and first time visiting Laos and Cambodia. Will post this thread in both forums as they relate to both areas.
Pls can anyone advise best/safest/cheapest way to get from airport to hotel? I've read there is a prepay system for either taxi or tuk tuk - are these drivers quite safe to use or would I be better booking a hotel pick-up.
Also accommodation for first night or so - around £10 - £15 a night - safe and central, but not too noisy - single room?
I am a girl in my late twenties, and will be traveling alone to Thailand-Cambodia on early June. For the first leg of my trip I am thinking on staying on Siem Reap for a week or so, visiting temples, daytrips, etc.
Any recommendations on a guesthouse/hotel that will allow me to meet people? I don't want to stay in a 20+ bed hostel, but I also don't want to stay on a place where I won't meet anybody, or a place for couples&families.
Thanks in advance!! ...
We're staying in Sihanoukville for 5 nights over the New Year then have 9 days before we go over the border to Vietnam. Could anyone suggest the best places to visit for this amount of time? We're wanting to see Kampot and Kep but is there enough to keep us occupied there? ...
Probably there is already a post talking about Malaria in Cambodia, however i couldnt find anything.
I am going to Cambodia in two weeks to spend 18 days. I have been just advised my doctor that all throughout Cambodia there is risk of Malaria (apart from Phon Phem and Angkor).
I know that it is my decisison to take the tablets or not but, is Cambodia a really high risk country for Malaria? In two weeks i will be going from Phon Phem to Koh Rong and then Siemp Reap.
Would you take the ...
I land in Siem Reap at noon on July 10, and fly back to the states at 10:30 PM the next night. Certainly not ideal, but just the way it worked out.
Where's the best place to stay for one night? Give me all your best options, hostels, high end hotel, anything.
Thanks in advance. ...
I'm going to Cambodia in a couple of weeks and for the first time I will be travelling alone. I'm a guy in my early thirties and pretty easy going. I've been before with friends but only made it to Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville due to time restraints. This time I'm starting off in Siem Reap and heading south over a couple of weeks, hopefully ending up on one of the islands.
Where will be the best places to meet people in Siem Reap? I'm a bit old to be staying in hostels now so I'v ...

We are planning a 5-6 month adventure around South East Asia later on this year. The hardest country I am finding to plan is Cambodia. We will be entering from Thailand and going on to Vietnam.
We will be in Cambodia after the 12th December, we are planning on spending roughly one month and so will be there for Christmas and New Year. The main places we want to visit are (in no particular order):
Kampot and Kep
Possibly Kratie (if it's worth it??)
short and sweet.
i hated the south of thailand and would love to catch some more beach action. heard mixed reviews about sihanoukville... any suggestions? should i just wait for malaysia/indonesia?

Can anyone suggest a private tour guide I can hire for two days to show me around main tourist sites but also some of the commercial areas? Are there any one night river cruises available?
Any "normal" backpackers who want to join me for some sightseeing let me know...
I am travelling to Cambodia in April. Initially i am flying to Bangkok where i will stay one day before flying with Air Asia to Phonm Phen.

Can anyone provide me with concrete info regarding showing up at the hat lek/ko kong border crossing with an eVisa? This works 100%?
I want to get through with no problems, and not pay for the visa on arrival scam at that border.
I looked at getting the visa beforehand in bangkok, but it sounds like a pain too.

Dear Sir or Madam,
I must alarm you, if I may, to a situation which occurred on your transport line between Don Det, Laos and Siam Reap, Cambodia, the infamous bus "168." I do so in the hopes that your service might improve in the future, thus ensuring a healthy, robust touristic economy for Cambodia for years to come.
To recount, I purchas ...
My girlfriend and I are planning to travel from Siem Reap to Bangkok by bus in a couple of days. I've read plenty of horror stories about going the other way but I was wondering if it's the same going into Thailand?
Apologies if this has already been posted, I've had a search if the forum and Siem Reap guide but not really found anything. ...
